Eliminate Ulcer Pain

An ulcer is no laughing matter. If you've experience the pain and burning caused by an ulcer, you know how miserable it can be. The nighttime pain that disrupts your sleep—the anxiety that your next meal might be the source of hours of agony—the weeks of near-constant suffering.

But did you know an ulcer can be deadly? Six thousands people die every year in this country because of ulcer complications.

Treating an ulcer is important both to your health and to your quality of life. Fortunately, there are several safe ways you can begin to relieve your ulcer pain.

First, begin eating several small meals each day rather than one or two large meals. Often eating triggers ulcer pain. By reducing the amount you eat at any given time, you can help to reduce the number and severity of flare-ups.

Next, make sure you are getting enough vitamin E. Animal studies suggest that vitamin E can help protect your stomach lining from the affects of H. pylori, the bacteria associated with the development of ulcers. Choose a high quality vitamin E supplement that contains mixed tocopherols and mixed tocotrienols. You need at least 400 IU of vitamin E a day.

Finally, talk with your doctor. Most ulcers are caused by bacteria, which means you may be able to eliminate the problem with a course of antibiotics. I'm not a big fan of antibiotics, but this is one of those situations where they really can help.

Ulcers can make you miserable and put your health at risk. Take steps today to take control of your ulcer pain.

Stay healthy,

Your Headache Might be Upsetting Your Stomach

Living with frequent headaches is bad enough, but researchers have discovered that people who have headaches more often are also more likely to suffer from stomach troubles. So instead of just a headache, you're likely to have your headache with a side of nausea. Or diarrhea. Or constipation.

If it's not one thing, it's another.

Scientists are still looking into a common mechanism, hoping to come up with a single way to treat both problems. But they're not there yet.

Fortunately, there are many natural things you can do to help relieve your headaches and bellyaches. Scientists believe that increased headaches cause the stomach troubles, so it makes sense to treat your headache pain first.

Many people who suffer from chronic headache have tension headaches. You might be able to find significant relief from relaxation techniques like meditation or from a tension-relieving exercise like yoga.

Natural pain relievers like willow bark, boswellia, and feverfew might provide you with effective relief without the side effects of typical over-the-counter painkillers.

For stomach relief, I can't think of anything better than ginger. Ginger soothes the stomach. I like it best as a tea. It's very warming and provides almost instant relief to stomach issues, especially if you have nausea or gas.

There's nothing worse than dealing with one painful health issue only to have another crop up. It can feel frustrating and overwhelming. If you have headaches accompanied by stomach issues, you're not alone. Give these natural remedies a try and see if they work for you.

Stay well,
Meghan Krohn
